"NATO's insurgents"? C'mon! James, this is just old fashioned cold war thinking. I don't agree with your whole conspiracy theory. People are rising against dictators. There are no "good" dictators. Geo-politics is for the ruling classes of all ideologies and the people are always the victims. Fuck NATO. Fuck Assad. Power to the People.
It is a great tragedy of the left when decent people like yourself become apologists for mass murderers like Assad or Stalin.
First of all you are making a huge assumption that I have made up my mind on this issue rather than that I am presenting various viewpoints to spur debate and see if I can learn from that.
My conspiracy theory? If you have paid attention to my posts you will see that I do not engage in "Conspiracy" theories.
Lastly if you are asserting that I am an apologist for any kind of mass murderers well politeness trumps sentiment in my reply.
Joe I am feeling incensed. Do you really know all the facts? How are you so privileged that you do not need additional information on what is obviously an extremely complicated issue. What is gained by shutting our minds and saying this and no further? You got under my skin this time.
Oh yeah, but what do you mean by the "People"? Who are the People? The poor, the working class? The People is a meaningless term, if not set in a specific context. Because the BBC and CNN are portraying the People are fighting for the institution of western style liberal capitalism in Syria. I am not sure that's what all People want in Syria. Maybe some People want no capitalism in Syria at all, but we don't get to read about them in the free world.
Again I agree w/you red. I do not believe BBC or CNN any more than I believe RT or Press TV. (And I do think it is good to view them all- @James) In this case my definition of "the People" would be a very general "those who the dictators are opening fire on and killing." The "people" of Tunisia and Egypt were rebelling against neoliberalism. Why would I think the people of Syria or Libya are rebelling for it? I believe all people generally want the same thing. Things like dignity, respect, a decent living, a future for our children. Is that an oversimplification?
@antinazi98 I agree that Syria is none of NATO's business and is for Syria to solve but that does not translate into support for Assad
You did say that it is ok. Just checking. Thanks for your honesty. You, Assad, and NATO are all on the same side. The war side. All you killers are all going to loose. I oppose you and all war mongers. Please do not bother me with you insults, Antinazi98. I understand you perfectly. You should learn how to feel. @James - I highly doubt that you agree w/98 that it is ok for dictators to bomb their own country.
